What is the Summer Missionary Program?
The Mt. Hope Summer Missionary Program is an 9-week commitment. Missionaries come to live and work at the camp. We start with an orientation where volunteers learn about the camp and get acquainted with each other. We have different areas of service that include: kitchen crew, housekeeping crew, guest services, camp store, and program. Missionaries will spend 2 weeks working in each service area. Missionaries also have the opportunity to be a cabin leader or co-cabin leader during our Mt. Hope Summer Camps. This gives our missionaries the ability to learn every aspect of camp ministry.
The most important part of our program is spiritual development. We want the missionaries who go through our program to grow in their walk with Christ. We have personal and group devotions that our Mt Hope Staff lead. This gives each missionary the ability to grow in their walk with Christ and learn how to help others grow as well. Camp is a unique place where we have a variety of churches and groups coming to camp to teach God’s Word to their campers. This gives our missionaries the opportunity to go to many different chapels and experience God’s Word through different eyes and perspectives throughout their time at camp.
What does it mean to be a Missionary?
At Mt Hope, we believe all who walk in Christ are called to make disciples, as Jesus has commanded us in Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'‘
A missionary is someone who is called to serve and share God’s word. Being a missionary at Mt Hope is just that, giving of your time and serving the Lord through your work at camp. This service helps provides a place to let others grow closer to Christ.
While you are serving at Mt. Hope and giving of your time, our staff will help you look for people/businesses/churches, etc. that will support your mission. We will help you write support letters, set up times to visit churches and businesses to share your story and invite them to support you (be on mission with you) both financially and through prayer. All donations given in your name will be tax deductible. God has always provided abundantly for our missionaries. It is always amazing to see His work through this process!
Your time at Mt Hope will be a special time where you build friendships that last a lifetime. You will gain experience to help you become a well-rounded follower of Christ and employee in the workforce. You will serve, grow, give, and learn!! Hi, my name is Cherish and I have the incredible privilege of serving as a missionary with Mt Hope Bible Camp. Mt Hope is so much more than a place to me. It’s my home away from home, and the staff here are like my second family. I have spent so much time here. It hold some of the most meaningful memories and experiences of my life. More than anything, Mt Hope has been a place where God has grown me. Through the people I’ve met, the opportunities I’ve had to serve and the experiences I have shared here. God has taught me so much about His love, His faithfulness and the purpose He has for my life.
Now, I have the opportunity to give back to the place that has given me so much. As a missionary, I want to help Mt Hope continue sharing the love of Christ and creating a place where others can grow in their faith and encounter God. Hi, I’m Addi! I have gone to church camps my whole life! In 2021 I went to Mt. Hope for my first time ever and felt a calling to be more involved and active through my community. Now I have been serving in ministry with my youth group for a little over 4 years, and I’m very involved in my church.

Hi, my name is Shania Ruggenberg and this is my 5th year serving at Mt. Hope! As a high school graduate, my time will be limited, but I plan on serving part time at the camp.
